Park Of America Flag Mountain
Terry Sachetti, Founder & CEO of a new non-profit called Park Of America, plans to build the world’s largest flag. And yes, it will be Old Glory herself. Someone said if you are going to think, think big.
Well this is really big. This Stars & Stripes will be 1869.48 feet by 3552 feet. When trying to picture this U.S. flag, which will be constructed upon Flag Mountain, maybe these things will help you grasp its size. This American banner will be 6,640,393 square feet. That’s right, that is not a typo and how about these facts:
- That’s enough room to park 77,000 cars.
- It’s an area just over the size of 112 Jumbo 787 Dream liners.
- In 2019, the tallest building in the world, in Saudi Arabia, is due to be completed. At 3,280 feet tall, it could lay down within the flag, and miss meeting the end by 272 feet.
- Each star will be taller than an 11-story building.
- Each stripe will be 14 stories tall.
- It will rest at an incline around 45 degrees. That would make our flag about 90+ stories high and just over two thirds of a mile wide. Flag Mountain would be about 90 stories high.
To say this is huge would be an understatement. There will not be another site like it in the world.
The top of the mountain will have eating venues, stores, rooms for special events, Founder’s rooms, observation seating, and solar panels to help power the park.
At the base of Flag Mountain will be a reservoir, with one of the largest fountain systems in the world, displaying a fantastic water-works show day and night.
The plans for inside of the mountain are just as big. Considering it could contain several Mall of Americas, there are plans for theme park rides, indoor skiing and sledding, wave pools, hotels, and waterslides. Each of these sections will represent different regions of the U.S. The Mountain will serve as a divider between this theme park, and the rest of the Park of America, so it will have its own atmosphere and not affect the ambiance of the serene outer park.
Park of America, as a non-profit is committed to inspiring patriotism & unity. Flag Mountain is but only one feature of the park that will excite your red, white and blue blood.
